Our Mission:
Mission Statement:
To glorify God as the
body of Christ by being and helping others become committed followers of
Jesus.
Vision Statement:
We at Parkway will both worship and
witness as expressions of our faith.
1. We will strive to be a church that
truly worships and witnesses to the glory of God, in and outside our
assemblies (John 4:23, 24; 1 Cor. 14:24,
25)
2. We will offer our members and
visitors assemblies that are biblically meaningful and engage the mind,
heart and body.
3. We value the apostolic traditions
recorded in the Scriptures, and will fashion our Sunday assemblies after the
first century
church. We also recognize the need to be
relevant to our community, and will adapt the eternal principles into
practices that
are meaningful to our generations.
4. We want to form a body that promotes
both corporate and individual worship, and both private and public service.
5. We will strive to live a life 24/7
that truly glorifies, honors and serves God.
We will strive to be a church that is
truly concerned for those both inside and outside the body.
(Acts 2:42; 2 Cor.
13:14; Phil 3:10-11; 1 John 1:3, 5-7 Matt. 28:19; Mark 16:15, 16; Luke
24:47)
1. We will emphasize the forming of
close relationships between members so that we can know and serve each
other’s physical, emotional and
spiritual needs.
2.
We will be known as the disciples of Jesus by the way we love one another.
(John 13:35)
3.
We will motivate members to become more evangelistic in their thinking.
4.
We will train members to effectively teach others.
5.
We will continually emphasize the importance of evangelism.
6.
Assimilation of each new Christian into the Body, and making him or her part
of the Body and fellowship is critical.
We will strive to be a church that
emphasizes life transformation.
(Matt. 28:20; Eph.
4:11-16; Col. 1:28)
1. We will strive to be a church that
emphasizes life transformation.
2. We will strive to grow into mature
Christians by emphasizing the transforming power of God’s word and commit
ourselves
to Bible study and enhancing our Bible
knowledge.
3. We will strive to grow into mature
Christians by emphasizing the transforming power of taking on the attitude
of Christ
and being committed to Him.
4. We will strive to grow into mature
Christians by committing ourselves to Christ and to each other.
5. We will strive to grow into mature
Christians by helping each other grow in steadfastness in what we believe so
we do not
become discouraged. (Eph. 4:14; James
1:2)
6. We will strive to grow into mature
Christians by equipping and assisting each other to use the talents God gave
us to have
effective relationships with each other
and those around us, and to lead spiritually productive lives.
7. We will seek to transform our
thoughts and actions, and our desire to follow God, by emphasizing the
transforming power
of the Holy Spirit and by learning to
live by the Spirit. (John 14:15-18; Acts 2:38; Eph 4:22-24; Romans 12:1-2)
8. We will emphasize that transformation
is a process of growth and the importance of being involved in the church -
being part of the body of Christ - in
this transformation process. (Eph 4:11-16)
9. We will emphasize the need to grow by
developing maturity and completeness in Christ. (Col 1:28, 29)
10. We will emphasize the need to be
involved in teaching others to be leaders. (1 Cor 15:58; II Tim 2:2)
We will strive to be a church that
shows our diverse community how to live harmoniously as one body.
(Rom. 12:3-16; 1
Cor. 12:4-6; 2 Cor. 9:13; Gal. 6:10; Eph. 4:12)
1. We will strive to be a church that
shows our diverse community how to live harmoniously as one body.
2. We see our presence in Sacramento as
part of God’s larger purpose for his body and the world.
3. We want to be faithful to God’s
vision for a united body, regardless of racial, linguistic, cultural, and
socio-economic differences.
4. As one body, we want to move towards
a true cooperation between the English-speaking members and the
Spanish-speaking members in and outside
of our assemblies. This will require deliberate and intentional leadership.
